The Alexander Molis Education Trust was started in 2003, shortly after Alexander Molis, who we all knew as Uncle Al, died at the age of 93.
For those family members who didn’t have the pleasure of meeting Uncle Al, please follow this link for a brief summary of his life Alexander Molis
Three Trustees oversee the Trust’s activities, and the Trust’s assets are managed by Vanguard Investments.
- Stephen J. Molis, son of Uncle Al’s brother, Vito
- James D. Molis, the grandson of Uncle Al’s brother, Domonic
- Christopher Molis, Uncle Al’s son.
The Trust is Uncle Al’s legacy and was the culmination of his dream to have family members attend college, just as he did. Uncle Al, when a young man and fresh out of serving our country in World War II, enrolled at Boston University, worked his way through college, and eventually graduated. His degree opened many doors for him, eventually settling in Washington D.C. and pursuing a successful career in government service.
Throughout his life, he encouraged his sibling’s to have their children and grandchildren obtain college degrees. And for those individuals who pursued degrees, he provided financial assistance.
Before his death, he decided to use some of his accumulated wealth to fund the Trust. One of our Trustees, Stephen J. Molis, worked with Uncle Al, along with his attorney and accountant, to complete his vision to encourage and assist family members in pursuing college degrees. Thus the Trust was born with a clear and simple objective: To encourage family members to pursue a college degree and to assist in defraying college education expenses.
The trust is an irrevocable trust. It has a finite life that was determined when Uncle Al died, and it will be in existence for approximately 100 years or so. Should you wish to review the Trust document, please click here: Alexander Molis College Trust – 10-29-2002
